Discount Value Options in Regios Discounts

Regios Discounts offers multiple options you can use to decide which discount amount to apply to eligible products:

Percentage

Screenshot of percentage discount value options

A percentage discount reduces the price of eligible items by a specific percentage.

These additional options are available for percentage discounts:

  • Quantity: The quantity of items the customer will receive a discount on. If this is 0 or unset, the discount will apply to all line items that are eligible for the discount.

Fixed amount

Screenshot of percentage discount value options

A fixed amount discount subtracts a specific amount from the price of eligible items.

This is NOT the same as a fixed price discount. This article explains the difference: Fixed Amount vs Fixed Price Discounts

These additional options are available for fixed amount discounts:

  • Quantity: The quantity of items the customer will receive a discount on. If this is 0 or unset, the discount will apply to all line items that are eligible for the discount.

Only apply discount once per order

If selected, we subtract the fixed amount once from the subtotal of the eligible items (this is the whole order only when the discount applies to all products). If not selected, the fixed amount will be taken off each eligible item in an order.

Round discounted price for other markets

When the customer's geolocation is in another country, fixed amount discounts will need to be converted to the local currency. This often results in numbers with decimal places, for example $12.34 instead of $12.00. If you would not like customers to see decimal places, then you can use any of the following options to decide how to calculate the final discounted price:

  • Round UP to the nearest whole number (maximizes revenue): Calculates the final discounted price using a mathematical "ceiling" operation. Example: $12.34 becomes $13.00.
  • Round DOWN to the nearest whole number: Calculates the final discounted price using a mathematical "floor" operation. Example: $12.34 becomes $12.00.
  • Round to the nearest whole number: Calculates the final discounted price using a mathematical "round" operation. Example: $12.34 becomes $12.00, while $34.56 becomes $35.00.
  • Do not round: Customers may receive prices with decimal places.

Volume/tiered/quantity breaks

Our app allows you to create volume discounts, which incentivize your customers to buy more. Please read this article to learn how to set them up.

You can also use the "Applies to" option, which decides how to select which line items to count when applying a volume discount.

The options are explained here.

Fixed price

A fixed price discount sets the price for a group of items to a specific price.

For example, you can sell "3 shirts for $15."

This is NOT the same as a fixed amount discount. This article explains the difference: Fixed Amount vs Fixed Price Discounts

These additional options are available for fixed price discounts:

  • Quantity: The quantity of items the customer will receive a discount on. If this is 0 or unset, the discount will apply to all line items that are eligible for the discount.

When the customer's is in another country or market, fixed price discounts will need to be converted to the local currency. This often results in numbers with decimal places, for example $12.34 instead of $12.00. If you would not like customers to see decimal places, then you can use any of the following options to decide how to calculate the final discounted price:

IMPORTANT: A min/max + fixed price discount is NOT infinite/incremental

If your "Buy 3 shirts for $15" discount is built with a combination of min/max purchase requirements and a fixed price discount, it will NOT also magically discount 6 shirts to $30. This behavior applies to the min/max style setup only.

A Buy X step works differently and DOES repeat. For example, a "buy 8 for $35" Buy X applied to 24 units of the same product comes out to 3 x $35 = $105, and any units beyond a complete set stay at full price.

If you'd like us to add infinite/incremental behavior to the min/max style, please upvote and comment on this thread in our public feedback board. We prioritize which features to add to our app based on the number of upvotes, so don't miss this chance to speak up.

Get Y

Screenshot of Get Y discount value options

This is the "Get Y" part of "Buy X, Get Y." Typically, you will combine this with a Buy X step, which will serve as the "Buy X" part.

These options are available for Get Y discounts:

  • Quantity: The quantity of items the customer will receive a discount on. If this is 0 or unset, the discount will apply to all line items that are eligible for the "customer gets" condition you provide in the next setting.
  • Customer gets: Our app will search the cart for line items with products that match the product eligibility options you provide here. These items will receive the discount you specify.
  • At a discounted value: The "customer gets" items will receive this discount. You can use the discount value options found in this article here.

IMPORTANT: BXGY DOES NOT automatically add the "Y" product to the cart

If you're looking for the "Y" product to be automatically added to the cart, then what you actually need is a "free gift with purchase" or "auto add to cart" offer.

Price list

This is a special discount type that lets you more efficiently set up different discounts for different products/collections/etc. You can even import CSV price lists!

Product metafield

Screenshot of product metafield discount value options

A product metafield discount reads the discount amount from a metafield on each eligible product. Every product can carry its own discount value, so there is no need to maintain a long price list, and no configuration size limit to worry about.

This option is only available in Metafield discounts.

To set it up:

  1. Choose the product metafield that holds the discount amount. You can pick one of your store's metafield definitions from the list, or enter the namespace and key manually.
  2. Choose a discount template: percentage, fixed amount, or fixed price. The template decides what the metafield value means. For example, a value of 10 means "10% off" with a percentage template, "$10 off" with a fixed amount template, or "this item costs $10" with a fixed price template.

The metafield value should be a number, like 10 or 24.99. Decimal values are supported.

Things to keep in mind:

  • If a product's metafield is missing, empty, not a number, or negative, that item is simply not discounted. The rest of the discount keeps working, and the "Test discounts" page will show an explanation for that item.
  • A discount can reference one product metafield and one variant metafield at a time. If your discount also uses a product metafield condition, it must check the same metafield the discount value reads from.
  • The template's usual options (quantity, rounding, etc.) work the same way as they do for regular percentage, fixed amount, and fixed price discounts.
  • If you select "Only apply discount once per order" (or a maximum discount amount that applies once per order), the amount is read from the first eligible item's metafield.

Variant metafield

Screenshot of variant metafield discount value options

Same as product metafield, except the discount amount is read from a metafield on each product variant. Use this when different variants of the same product need different discount values, for example different sale prices per size or color.

Note that there is no fallback between the two: a variant metafield discount only reads the variant's metafield, and a product metafield discount only reads the product's. Each variant you want discounted needs its own value.
