How to Use Buy X Steps

For advanced cases where you want to create a discount that can apply an infinite number of times, use a "Buy X" step.

Use Cases

  • Infinite Buy X Get Y Discounts
  • Infinite Bundle Discounts

Capabilities

Here's what this feature allows you to do:

  • Allow you to define which products are considered a "set," for example, "1 Shirt and 1 Pants in a bundle."
  • Count the number of sets in the cart
  • If the discount has "apply once per order" checked, we multiply the value by the number of sets
  • Otherwise, we'll multiply the "Quantity" field by the number of sets.
  • One exception: The "maximum discount amount" of percentage discounts will never be multiplied. This is for the sake of preventing confusion.

Settings

  • Count by: Either "Quantity" or "Price," at the top of the step. The "Price" is based on the "price" (not the "compare at price") before any product discounts apply.
  • Requirements: Each row is one requirement: a quantity (or amount, when counting by price), then which products are eligible. Pick products or collections with Browse. They show as chips, and you can remove one with its ×. Click + Add requirement to add another row. Customers must meet every requirement, which is why the rows are separated by AND.
  • Limit uses per order: If you don't want an "infinite" discount, check this and enter the number of sets we'll discount for a single order.
