Required Permissions
- At minimum, you will have to grant our app
read_ordersaccess. This grants our app access to the only the past 60 days of order data. - Depending on what logic that your discounts (including deleted discounts) have, you may need to grant
read_customers,read_markets,read_locations, and/orread_products.
How We Attribute Orders to Our App
To determine whether our app applied a discount to an order, we use the following heuristics:
- Comparing the discounts we expect our discount to apply to the discounts that were actually applied to the order
- For automatic discounts: comparing the title of the actual discount to the expected title
- For discount codes: checking if any known redeem codes were applied to the discount
Limitations
- We can't guarantee that our app's attribution functionality will 100% match what Shopify shows in its backend. This is because the Shopify API doesn't provide a way to definitively link an order to a discount's ID. More info here.
- For subscription items, we can only rely on title match because the necessary information to calculate correctly is missing. We can’t see the “price after subscription discount, but before the app discount.”
- "Customer number of orders" conditions are based on the number of orders the customer placed before the given order's creation date. We can't guarantee this will be the exact same number Shopify had given our app at the time of checkout.
- Currency conversion accepts up to 3% error, since it's impossible to get a single currency exchange rate that applies to all items in the cart via the Shopify API.
- If changes were made to products, customers, etc. between when the order was placed and when it was paid, our app can only account for what the state was at the time we analyzed it (when it was paid).
