Audit Logs

Regios Discounts automatically keeps an audit log for every discount. It records when a discount is created, published, updated, or deleted, and where each change came from. You can view this history in two places: the Timeline section on each discount's page, and the Logs page, which combines the history of all your discounts in one searchable list.
If a discount ever stops working the way you expect, or disappears entirely, the audit log gives you a factual record of what happened and when.

Use Cases

  • Find out when a discount was created, published, activated, deactivated, or deleted
  • See whether a change was made in the Regios app, outside the app (for example, in the Shopify admin or by another app), through the REST API, or by the Regios support team
  • See which settings changed in an update
  • Restore a previous version of a discount after an unwanted change
  • Investigate a discount that was deleted, for example by someone else on your team

The Timeline on the Discount Page

  1. Log into the Regios Discounts application.
  2. Open an existing discount.
  3. Scroll down to the Timeline section.
  4. The most recent 10 events are listed, newest first. Click Load more... to see older events.
  5. Entries that changed specific settings include a View details button.

Note: discounts created before this feature was added won't have any past activity in their timeline. New events are recorded from now on.

The Logs Page

The Logs page shows events from all of your discounts, including deleted ones.

  1. Open the Regios Discounts home page.
  2. Open the actions menu at the top of the page and click View audit logs.
  3. Each row shows When the event happened, the Discount it belongs to, the Discount ID, the Event, and the Attribution (where the change came from).
  4. Use the search field to search by discount title.
  5. Use the filters to narrow the list:
    • Action: Created, Published, Updated, or Deleted
    • Where: In the Regios app, or Outside the Regios app
    • By Regios team: show or hide changes made by Regios support
  6. Click any row to see its details.

The list shows 25 events per page. Use the pagination controls at the bottom to move between pages.

What Gets Recorded

  • Created (or Draft created for draft discounts)
  • Published
  • Activated and Deactivated
  • Scheduled
  • Dates changed
  • Codes added and Codes deleted (for discounts with redeem codes)
  • Updated (any other change to the discount's settings)
  • Deleted (highlighted in red)

If you save a discount without actually changing anything, no event is recorded.

Understanding Attribution

Every event is labeled with where the change came from:

  • in the Regios app: the change was made inside Regios Discounts.
  • outside the Regios app: the change was made somewhere else, such as the Shopify admin's Discounts page or another app. We detect these changes through Shopify's webhooks.
  • via API key: the change was made through the Regios Discounts REST API. Hover over the info icon to see which API key was used.
  • by Regios team: the change was made by Regios support, for example while helping you troubleshoot an issue.

The audit log records where a change was made, not which staff member made it. Shopify does not share staff member identities with public apps, so we cannot display names.

Viewing the Details of a Change

View details modal screenshot

Click View details on a timeline entry (or click a row on the Logs page) to open the event details. For updates, the modal lists which settings changed, for example "Title", "Starts at", or "Combines with".
The details show which fields changed, not the old and new values. To see exactly what a discount looked like at an earlier point, use Restore this version below.

Restoring a Previous Version

Restore this version button screenshot

Most events store a full snapshot of the discount's configuration at that moment. You can use this to undo an unwanted change:

  1. Open the discount and find the event in its Timeline section.
  2. Click View details.
  3. Click Restore this version. The discount form is filled in with that version's settings.
  4. Review the form, then save the discount.

Restoring only fills in the form. Nothing changes until you save.

Cautionary Notes

  • Changes made outside the app are interpreted from Shopify's webhook data, so the event type is our best classification. For example, clearing a discount's end date appears as "Activated".
  • Restore is available from the discount's Timeline, so it can't be used on a discount that has already been deleted. If you need help recreating a deleted discount, contact us through the in-app chat and include what you see on the Logs page.

FAQ

How long are audit logs kept?

Indefinitely. There is currently no retention limit, and events are never pruned.

Is this feature available on all plans?

Yes. Audit logs are available to all merchants at no extra cost.

Can I see which person on my team made a change?

No. The log shows where a change was made (in the app, outside the app, via API key, or by Regios support), not which individual made it. Shopify does not make staff member identities available to public apps.

My discount was deleted. Can I still see its history?

Yes. The Logs page keeps the full history of deleted discounts. Search for the discount by title, or filter by the "Deleted" action to find when it was removed.

Why don't some entries have a "View details" button?

Only updates that changed specific settings have field-level details. Events like "Created", "Published", and "Deleted" describe the whole discount, so there are no individual fields to list.
