Check If Specific Products Are In Cart Conditions

Check If Specific Products Are in the Cart

What This Condition Does

The "Check if specific products are in the cart" condition lets you apply a discount to some items only when specific other items are present in the cart. It scans the entire cart for the products you specify, if they're found, the discount rule proceeds; if not, it doesn't.

This is useful for bundle offers, cross-selling, and similar promotions.

For example, if a customer adds a camera to their cart, you can offer a discount on camera accessories such as lenses, tripods, or memory cards. The condition checks for the camera's presence, but the discount applies to the accessories, not the camera itself.

You can filter by specific collections, specific products, or specific product variants.

How It Differs from "Include/Exclude Products"

These two conditions look similar but serve very different purposes.

Include/Exclude Products

This condition looks at the current line item being evaluated. It asks:

"Is this specific item eligible for the discount?"

If you set it to include only the "Shirts" collection, only shirt line items in the cart will receive the discount.

Check If Specific Products Are in the Cart

This condition looks at the entire cart, regardless of which line item is currently being evaluated. It asks:

"Does the cart contain any of these products?"

The discount doesn't necessarily apply to those products themselves, it's just checking whether they're present.

The key distinction: this condition does not require the current line item to be eligible for the selected product eligibility options. It only checks whether matching products exist somewhere in the cart.

Practical Example

Say you want to give 10% off accessories when a customer has a camera in their cart.

You'd combine both conditions:

  1. "Check if specific products are in the cart" → set to the "Cameras" collection. This ensures the rule only fires when a camera is present in the cart.
  2. "Include/Exclude Products" → set to the "Accessories" collection. This ensures only accessories actually receive the 10% off not the camera itself.
