# Do discounts apply to exchange items?

Shopify doesn't apply automatic discounts to exchange items. This includes Shopify's own automatic discounts and app discounts like Regios Discounts, in both the Shopify admin and Shopify POS. Discount codes can't be applied to POS exchanges either.

To give the customer the discounted price, add a manual discount to the exchange item:

- **Shopify admin:** on the order's Return and exchange page, click the exchange item's price, then enter the discount type, value and reason.
- **Shopify POS:** on the Exchange summary page, tap the item and apply a manual discount.
